A costume wedding can be magical — if you aim for consistency rather than fancy dress. The chosen era, venue, light and level of historical accuracy must work together.
Autour D'Un Soir regularly supports themed wedding projects on the French Riviera. Here is our advice to move forward with confidence.
Our collections
Choosing an era
Belle Époque, 1920s, Renaissance: each choice implies different constraints for guests. Belle Époque suggests long dresses, bodices, hats and promenade elegance; the 1920s favour straighter lines, pearls, fringe and short hairstyles; Renaissance themes require more theatrical volume.
A clear direction with shared visual references works better than a vague theme. An « old-fashioned » theme without a precise period often creates a mix that is hard to harmonise in photos.
Silhouette consistency
Bride, groom, witnesses and guests: define a common level of expectation. You can aim for loose historical inspiration or a stricter re-enactment, but that needs deciding before fittings.
A very accurate period costume next to a modern outfit can create photo imbalance. Conversely, a coherent palette, a few well-chosen accessories and compatible silhouettes can sometimes create the atmosphere without constraining every guest.
